Well it was nearly a very long tuesday night ride.
Puncture on top of the moors for Stu where it was very cold and a bit breezy. Set off again and behind us Joe’s freewheel froze up and needed weeing on. Then Rich got a puncture and then he had to wee on Joe’s freewheel. By this point 4 of us had gone off the front without realising the further problems behind so rather than wait not knowing if they would turn back or not we headed on back to the woods. Coming into the final rooty singletrack young Dan shot off as usual. Couple of seconds later and we hear screaming and we find him down the bottom of a 20foot drop into a ravine of a stream :0/ Oz falls over and get’s wet and cold trying to pull him out. The 3 of us get him out and fortunately he’s just a bit shocked and slightly damp. If it had been anybody else it would have probably been very serious but Dan is young and knows how to handle a bike off big drops and bounces still. Could have so easily been a mountain rescue and helicopter job. Big bruise coming on now though but as ever he put a brave face on.
Anyhoo very very cold out there and my disk brakes froze a few times which makes stopping interesting. Apparently rim brakes were worse ;0)
